Très Bien

Très Bien, meaning very good, is the cabin we stayed at over Valentine's Day weekend; and a very good weekend it was indeed. We spent our time doing very little. Besides going out to check up on how much was left of Detroit Lake, we stayed in and did one of my favorite things. Cuddle. As if I needed a romantic holiday to celebrate my love for Erik, it was nice to escape and hide out in this A frame.
So crazy how low the water still is.
Hello, gorgeous.
Two roses for two Valentine's together!
Best cuddle spot ever.
I wasn't even upset about the amount of rain we experienced. Detroit, OR needs all the rain it can get!
Chocolate fondue will be our new thing, seeing as how Erik couldn't stop obsessing over it.
I think A frame cabins have become one of my newest obsessions.

month of love

People. It's already February, and yesterday was New Year's, and last week was Christmas. Which means two weeks ago was my anniversary with Barb.  In case you're confused, Erik and I usually call each other "bab" and if you can't seem to figure out how that's pronounced, this weekend I said it and realized it kind of sounds like a Long Island way of saying Barb. So there you have it. It stuck (for me at least, and I know he's not as fond of it).  Anyways, since February seems to already be here and I'm feeling automatically more lovey, here's a video I made for our anniversary.
Enjoy.

those moments

When you wake up in the middle of the night to see that you still have hours left to sleep
When you arrive early to work and have 5 minutes to just sit and enjoy before going in
When a book is that good, you can't put it down until it's finished
When you capture the perfect candid
When a song plays and simultaneously puts you in a nostalgic mood
When a certain smell can bring you back even more distinctively
When you order but get something bigger than was asked, at the same small price
When you sleep in freshly washed sheets
When you laugh until you cry and your stomach hurts

I have experienced each of these little moments in the past week. The unexpected little moments that are never thought about until you're presented with them. And in turn, cannot truly be appreciated until presented with them.  Such. Good. Moments.

happilyriverrafter

The other night while out at our local German Pub with Stephanie, she brought up the video we made a few summers ago.  There were tears in her eyes while she reminisced and I thought, "I wish Megan was here for this." The setting was perfect: a German Pub, Radler beers, and a girl with a French Bulldog on a leash. After all the talk about it, I had to go back and watch because it had been awhile.  Needless to say, Stephanie was right; the video is so good (in our eyes) and so happilyriverrfter.

fifteen things

* I once swore I would never drink beer, wine, or coffee
because I didn't like the taste. Now, I drink all three.
* I dislike revolving doors.
* I have no self control when it comes to food.
*My biggest wish right now is for the best to move back from Germany
(and will continue to be until she does).
*I can't live without Chapstick.
*Cats are not my favorite.
*Procrastination is my worst enemy, but it's how I function.
* I always wanted braces...and glasses.
* I went through a phase growing up where I'd speak in a British accent and pretend I was on the Oregon Trail. I had to stop though, because someone told me people would start to think I had split personality disorder, and that scared me.
* Sleeping is one of my favorite things.
* I'm terrified I'll never figure out what I want to do with my life.
* I love receiving flowers.
*Although I've been told otherwise, I'm very shy.
* I'm very sarcastic, almost to a fault.
*I love anyone who can make me laugh.

who wouldn't?

...want to live in a city where:
 there's a hot dog stand on every corner,
the most common way to get around is to travel underground,
crowds gather to watch random dancers...and then make you feel as if you were scammed since they only do it for money but then don't seem to show enough for it! it's still cool though,
a park can provide you with a full day of entertainment,
and there's something new to discover every day?

I knew I'd love New York, but once I was there I was seriously on cloud nine. Now I believe I need to move there for at least a short period of my life.  I hear it's a hard place to escape though, and I absolutely believe that.  The food, the architecture, the people, and the diversity every street has to offer could keep me entertained for a lifetime.  I can't wait to return!

The Scott's

Yes I gave a speech, and yes Tanner loved it :)

October 6th my best friend Stephanie got married. I can't believe it! I am so happy for these two and so excited I got to be apart of such a beautiful wedding.  The day was perfect with sunny skies and falling Autumn leaves. I could barely hold myself together even watching "the first look" because Tanner and Stephanie are so perfect for each other and I know they're going to have a lifetime of happiness. I seriously wish I had a wedding to attend every month because I love them so much.  Maria Lamb who is so cute and talented took these wedding photos (anthemphotography.com). She really did a great job.

the magic of nestle

If you have never taken the time to look at the back of a bag of Nestle Toll House chocolate chips, I advise you do so.  These have got to be the best chocolate chip cookies ever.  I love them so much that they are the only chocolate chip cookies I ever make.  I also love them so much that I will not feel ashamed if I have 3 or 4 for breakfast....lunch...and dinner.
