Fall is here

So it's officially Fall now, and today it felt like it more than ever.  I decided it was an appropriate time to make these pumpkin muffins, which are the easiest thing to make.  All you need is a box of yellow cake mix and a can of pumpkin.  Thanks to Pinterest I will be making these multiple times this season.  This was also my first Sunday baking day since last Winter. Here's to many more to come!

Saying Goodbye

This past weekend I went to the beach with a group of friends to say bon voyage to one of my good friends who is moving to Panama to teach English. On the drive, Stephanie and I were having moments of excitement as we creeped upon a golden hour (one of the many reasons to love fall). I tried to take the best picture possible, but I knew a camera couldn't do justice to all the beauty we were taking in.  The rest of the weekend was followed by amazing weather, which was completely unexpected.  I had packed nothing but sweaters and leggings.
I hate saying goodbye, but I am so excited for Katie! We have known each other since the 7th grade and she is such a great friend.  I can always count on her to be down to party, but she's also the type of friend who I can go to when I have problems and need someone to talk to.  I love her to pieces!  We enjoyed our time going to the tiniest bar in the tiniest beach town, playing shuffle board and then headed home to play catch phrase until 6 in the morning.

Mumford and Sons

So excited Mumford and Sons released their new album "Babel" this week, but I am so sad this one isn't on it! I'll still have to get my hands on this album of course.

early signs

Although Portland is still experiencing summer weather, this morning I went outside to a beautiful sunny day, but with a cool breeze and crisp air.  This immediately brought a smile to my face.  With Autumn comes sweaters, boots, scarves, warm drinks, pumpkins, and Sunday baking.  Of course I can bake any season, but Fall is my favorite considering the main ingredient can be pumpkin.  There's also something special about getting cozy on a Sunday and baking while it's too chilly to do anything outside.

P.S. This picture was taken last year

birthday celebrations

My Birthday was celebrated with those I love, and with what I love...food! Gloria helped me start the celebrations off with frozen yogurt which we both enjoyed.  I treated myself to a pedicure and headed out to dinner with some friends, the boyfriend, and my brother.  I reserved my Friday evening for a night out with the girls.  We danced the night away and laughed about things that I don't even remember.  I love birthdays; they're just one more excuse to eat sweets for an entire week...

twenty four, you never looked so good

Well, it's my Birthday! Another year has come and gone and aside from the fact that I'm over getting older, I'm happy to be 24. I have this weird superstition that 23 is my unlucky number because 22 is my lucky one, so I was anticipating the worst year of my life.  The bad luck hit fast with my car's starter going out along with my brakes, then me wrecking my friends car I was borrowing because of mine not working, to that car's alternator giving up on me.  This was all because I was 23 of course.  The year sort of followed this pattern, but it wasn't all bad. However, I still won't be missing you, 23. Greetings and cheers to 24! May this year be better than the last, and I know it will since I have nothing against 24.

soaking up the sun

As summer starts coming to an end I'm doing everything I can to enjoy every bit of sunshine.  Here in the northwest the sun cannot be taken advantage of.  Come fall no one knows how long it will be until the sun comes out again.  I'll be enjoying these last bits of sunshine with one of my favorite girls.

Sauvie Island

I cannot believe it has taken us this long to go out and explore Sauvie Island.  I have been wanting to go to the farms and pick my own fruits and vegetables for so long.  It was a great way to spend the day and so much cheaper than any produce found at a grocery store.  I hope we can make it back out there before summer ends.  If not, there's always the pumpkin patch to look forward to.
