up in the trees

This weekend I got to pretend I had a home in the trees. Finally. I have been eyeing these tree escapes for awhile but haven't managed to push the booking button. As I thought about what adventure I could drag my dad on this weekend while visiting him, I remembered there was a tour option for Treehouse Point. It's about half and hour from where he lives, so it was the perfect opportunity to explore the place! Now, I'm wanting one of my own. The pictures don't do it justice, so I recommend the tour, or a stay.
I could sit here all day. So cozy!
This one was my favorite, although I'm not so sure about this bridge considering I had some butterflies walking across it.
This is the bedroom view surrounded by trees.

wine palate

If I learned anything this weekend, it's that wine tastes differently depending on the type of glass. Wine will taste better if it's served in a very thin glass. Believe me, I tested it out. I know nothing about palates and such, but when I was asked which glass tasted better, I seemed to have the right answer. I also learned that wine tasting is better in the fall. I may be biased because fall is my favorite, but the vineyards of greens just doesn't compare to those of reds, yellows, and oranges.

bitter sweet

A few years ago I came across photos of this beautiful wooded dream and always said I was going to go. The next season came, and then the next and it was always a thought of "oh, I'm so busy and it's three hours away...next year for sure." That changed this year however, after I learned that this would all be gone soon and replaced with dairy farms. I then experienced some anxiety about not making it before it would become just a memory to some. My anxiety grew as the leaves fell in Portland because I knew it would be the same here. This place needed to be experienced in all of its magic: vibrant leaves both high and low. Lucky for me, I wasn't too late. I now regret not going years prior because this place deserves more than a lifetime visit.
This spur of the moment photoshoot was one of the most fantastic things that has ever happened. After chatting with a photographer in the area, he offered to take some photos of us. Now we will forever have some of the most adorable -fake- save the date photos.

september favorites

Who else is ready for fall? Although I barely experienced a summer this year because the weather was so up and down, I'm still over it. This week, we had a few cloudy mornings and even one morning where it rained on my entire walk to work. I loved every second of it. I'll need to invest in a new umbrella though.  Here are a few new finds all from Abercrombie to get me ready for my favorite season. You guys, they have so much good stuff right now and I want it all. More sales please?!

Roma

The thing about Rome is:
- Pizza can be found anywhere.
- The cobblestone streets are to die for.
- Italian wine can conveniently be paired with any meal.
- Gelato can be had as an afternoon snack after also having it for breakfast.
- Beautiful fountains are placed all over the city adding to it's amazing history.
- The Vatican, Roma Colosseum, and Saint Peter's Basilica are some of the most magical sites I have ever seen as any explanation or photo could never do them justice.

For these reasons, as soon as I arrived in Rome I knew it had jumped to the top of my list as favorite city visited so far on our trip.

the elegance that is paris

I never imagined my arrival into the "city of love" to go as it did.  Once we arrived, we walked out of the train station into the dark soaking streets of Paris.  I was immediately thrown into a terrible mood as I knew we'd have about half a mile to conquer before we reached our hotel.  The rain is not something that usually bothers me and I was well prepared with my umbrella in hand.  However, dragging luggage through endless wet streets with soaking drenched feet is another story.  On the other hand, the elegance of Paris is something to be thankful for, considering I was able to numb the terrible mood and soak in the amazing views on my arrival.  I couldn't help but to fall in love as Paris is absolutely breath taking, even on a dark and rainy day.
 Those city views.
I tried hot wine, and let's just say there is no wine I could ever discriminate.
Never head to Paris without an umbrella, you'll be sorry.
Paris is very accommodating in terms of satisfying hunger, and it is hard not to want to stop at every outdoor patio considering the majority look like this.
Merry-Go-Rounds are the thing in Europe, as I saw more on my trip than I have in my entire life.
Those Autumn colors.
I was advised to watch the Eiffel Tower light up after my experience of arriving in the city.  It's amazing how the simplicity of a lit up structure can help to alter moods.  The fact that it twinkles every hour may have something to do with it though.

London

As soon as I arrived in London I immediately acquired an accent, or so I thought.  I couldn't help but walk around and pretend to know what I was doing.  I'm sure I worried my friends as they prepared for me to do this everywhere we went for the entire three weeks.  It did stop in London though, as it became a bit harder to pick up on entirely different languages elsewhere.  London was the first stop on our Euro tour, and an excellent way to ease into the culture shock of all the visited countries involved.  I fell in love with it's history, architecture, and fish and chips. It also reminded me a whole lot of New York, which is something I could never complain about.

The Scott's

Yes I gave a speech, and yes Tanner loved it :)

October 6th my best friend Stephanie got married. I can't believe it! I am so happy for these two and so excited I got to be apart of such a beautiful wedding.  The day was perfect with sunny skies and falling Autumn leaves. I could barely hold myself together even watching "the first look" because Tanner and Stephanie are so perfect for each other and I know they're going to have a lifetime of happiness. I seriously wish I had a wedding to attend every month because I love them so much.  Maria Lamb who is so cute and talented took these wedding photos (anthemphotography.com). She really did a great job.
